The City of Aghrapur on the Shores of the Inland Sea

The ancient port city of Aghrapur is the farthest eastern outpost of the Aquilonian Empire. It is an important crossroads of trade routes from north and south, east and west. In ages past the city was ruled by the Shah of Turan. Twenty years ago the armies of King Conan defeated the Shah and took his city from him. An Imperial Governor was appointed to rule in King Conan's place.

Last year the missing King Conan was declared dead and his son crowned king in his place. The new king has appointed a new governor for Aghrapur, his cousin, Kadis -- a foolish man, a religious zealot consumed with dark lusts and hatred.

Prince Kadis has traveled to Aghraphur in a great caravan with many soldiers and an elite personal bodyguard known collectively as the Hell Hounds. Now that he has arrived, he has started his reign by executing the palace staff in a public display/

"Spies and traiotors!" he cried from the palace balcony. "Let this be a warning to all who would oppose me!"
