People Places Plot

The Infinity Event

The twin suns of Tatoo burned in the sky sucking moisture from even the deepest cisterns. Each night as the temperature dropped and a brief ghosting of dew formed on the chilled blades in the moisture farms, the blue trails of the inspection droids criss-crossed the sky searching for the tell-tale signs of hidden caches of water. The Hutts had imposed a water tax on the drought stricken planet and paid well for enforcement technology.

At Jabba the Hutt's Palace, previously a monastery of the B'omarr Order of monks, the signs of conspicuous consumption made the locals grit their teeth in frustration. Fountains flowed freely in the open air, a swimming pool shimmered beneath the blazing suns. The walls literally dripped moisture in the inner recesses where the criminal overlord and his entourage wallowed.

The Hutts liked things a little slimy and Jabba had long ago learned the benefits of putting on a big show. If you act important, people think you are important. They come from miles around, even from other planets, to seek favors. Sometimes they are summoned to pay a debt. Or go in search of work.

And all who come to the audience chamber of Jabba Desilijic Tiure are treated to a show before the business begins. Tonight there will be music and dancing. Acrobats and conjurers will work the crowd and display their skills. And after the feast there will be a duel to the death. The excitement level is high.

Welcome to my new PBEM role playing adventure set in the Star Wars universe. Player characters will all start here, in Jabba's Palace tonight. They may be here to ask Jabba a favor. They may be here to repay a debt. They may be seeking employment in his criminal empire. You tell me. Jabba's Palace on Tatooine

Kale Vaan Olwen (goes by Vaan), Human, male

Tough no nonsense Human. Class is Scoundrel. Vaan is an Ex-Emperial special forces operative, the kind who slips past customs and blows up your chiseled generator so the schmucks in “Blast Me” all white armor can come in and do their thing. Vaan is not a nice person, though he can pretend to be and he can blend in easily. Blending in is, in fact, his best skill. He learned something, something the empire wanted kept secret. If they caught him they would ave tortured his family in front of him to get him to talk, and he knew it. So he faked his death. Now, though, he has to figure out how to make a living, and Jabba the Hut pays well if you bring in suckers, usually better if they are alive.

Miko Biggs, Human, female

Miko Biggs is a slender human woman in her early 30s. Born in the bowels of Coruscant, she had to learn to fight young to stay alive. When she was eighteen, she enlisted in the Imperial Navy and served as deckhand on a number of Imperial ships, eventually taking and passing an officer training course, and her service culminated on the Star Destroyer Belligerent. After a year of her service on the Belligerent, the ship was sent to the Outer Rim to bring several rebellious worlds into submission. She'd done many things she wasn't proud of during her service to the Empire, but none shook her as much as this. Not long after that, she and a handful of other junior officers and enlisted personnel defected together. They stole a shuttle and made a beeline for the Outer Rim. Unfortunately, the hyperdrive was damaged in their escape and they were forced to crash land on a barely habitable moon near Tattooine. Most of those on board the shuttle were killed on impact or succumbed to their injuries or the elements shortly thereafter. Miko was on her last legs when a salvage crew loyal to Jabba the Hutt came across the wreck, and they made a deal: the salvagers would take the remains of the shuttle and all of Miko's former compatriot's equipment, and Miko would agree to work for Jabba for three years (in addition to working off any expenses she incurred along the way); in return, Miko would get transportation off the moon and a modicum of protection from the Empire whenever it passed through. They certainly weren't the best terms, but they were the only ones Miko was likely to get, so she shook on it and was ferried to Tattooine, Jabba's newest employee.

That was a month ago. Working for Jabba hasn't been too bad so far, and she hasn't had a real job yet. Ideally, she'd be able to gain enough favor and credits working for Jabba that she could buy a ship of her own.

Nix, Human, female

Nix is really just a kid who scavenges the best she can.

Her "uncle" took her in when she was too young to know better taught her the skills she has, but now he has gone missing. She's not managed to figure out what happened to him and is asking Jabba's help in finding him.

R2-R3, Droid, astromech

R2-R3 was found floating in space, damaged by what appears to have been a starfighter class weapon. He was treated pretty much as any other droid... like a piece of furniture, or as a replacement for an organic in dangerous situations. When the crew that found him took a job for Jabba to repay a loan, they later decided to double-cross their employer. R2-R3 decided to vent the oxygen and return to Tatooine, because he did not trust bounty hunters to not shoot him while attempting to collect the bounty that would be put upon all of their heads. After showing the recording of the crew's decision, Jabba decided he liked the little droid right where he is.

Ellor (Ace) Duros, male

Ellor grew up as what most would call a military brat. Every male in his family going back generations enrolled in and made a career out of being in the Duros military in whatever capacity that was from pilot to Slicer. His father was no exception and made sure that Ellor wouldn’t break the family reputation and heritage. They traveled everywhere and rarely stayed in one place for long. Ellor actually enjoyed it as it satisfied his wanderlust. However, it was always under the oppression of rules and regulations. Even when he enrolled as a pilot for the Duros fleet, he was constantly written up and reprimanded for thinking outside the box and being what his superiors called “a wildcard”. Instead of resenting it, he embraced it and took the name Ace by his friends and associates.

Eventually, his nonconformity and strong-willed nature caused him to be expelled from the fleet much to his satisfaction and his father’s disappointment. His father pleaded with his friends in the upper ranks to give his son a chance, but Ellor swore he would never go back to being a bird in a gilded cage. He was meant to fly free through space. He kicked out of his father’s house and disowned as an embarrassment. The Duros simply took his year of creds from being in the military and set off to find work for someone who could appreciate his abilities to the fullest.

One thing led to another and he found himself in Jabba’s palace. There had been rumors going around that the Hutt was looking to form a team for a special task. This was his chance to both find work and get in the good graces of one of the most powerful people on the outer rim. Every team needed a pilot and he was a natural. His military training was primarily piloting military transport ships to get soldiers in and out of battle quickly. He also had a side hobby of working with explosives and grenades as he saw a sort of kindred spirit with the concept. They are contained but ultimately what is inside is meant to be set free.

Ketchit, Squib, male

Ketchit is a squib. His family has a long and glorious history or so he tells everyone. Diplomat, Merchant, Pilot, Tinkerer, Scavenger and Scoundrel these all describe Ketchit pretty well. He was abandoned on Tattoine when the freighter he was serving on had to leave in a hurry (Really the captain made sure to leave him behind). So know Ketchit is looking for a new ship to join or another way off planet. Although he wasn't invited to the party, he has as squibs tend to do, found his way there.

Jeshek Ka-ahsh Besalisk, male

A long time employee of Jabba's crime syndicate, Jeshek has been happy learning the skills of an engineer. Though he does not feel enslaved, he sees this mission as a chance to prove his worth to Jabba nd perhaps win his freedom.

Torhnak a'Tena-Gra Ubese, female

Torhnak is a young member of the Tena-Gra Clan of Ubinal. They're mercenaries, willing to work for the highest bidder with little in the way of loyalties due to their xenophobic nature. They do however owe Jabba the Hutt a great debt because he was able to supply them with military grade hardware after the Empire seized their munitions depot. They thus cannot turn down any contract for work from Jabba, no matter how little he promises to pay them. So Jabba has a small army of mercenaries at his disposal should he need it. But since Jabba has put his competition in their place, he has little need of it. All he asks for is the spare member of their clan to do odd jobs for him.

Torhnak has been trained for reconnaissance. Her job for the clan is just to stealthfully go in, locate the enemy, report in, and return to base. After working for Jabba though, the clan hopes she will be up to doing more dangerous assignments.

Jorj Frederich Spencer Human, male

Jorj is the eldest son of a former Senatorial aide; who helped his father as a semi-official page and message runner in the Senate. When his father retired shortly after the Republic reformed into the Empire; he helped his father try to provide aid to non-humans persecuted by the Empire. Eventually, young Jorj Frederich Spencer's enthusiasm to help others overreached his caution; and he began to unwittingly receive aid from Jabba's contacts. His father was forced to distance himself from his son, but told the young man that he would try to arrange a way for the son to escape Jabba's influence. Unfortunately, this opportunity has presented itself, and Jorj is about to be trust into events he could not have expected. If he survives, however, there is a chance at an official posting on a Senatorial diplomatic vessel.
